Join us for a session of co-operative survival game Don’t Starve Together with artist Uma Breakdown and academic Eleanor Dare while they play together and discuss monsters in games, films and beyond. The discussion will be streamed online on this page alongside Uma Breakdown’s solo exhibition Earth A.D. at Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridgeshire, UK, and simultaneously screened at Etc. gallery, Prague, Czech Republic as part of the exhibition Earthly Survival.

Biographies

Eleanor Dare is an academic and critical technologist based at Cambridge University and UCL, UK. Eleanor has an MSC and PhD from Goldsmiths University of London and is the co-founder of XORdinary stories. Eleanor has written extensively on the impact of digital processes, particularly in relation to education and storytelling.

Uma Breakdown finished a PhD in 2020 about The Evil Dead, care, trans* écriture feminine, and disaster. With Sammy Paloma they make video games about the divine and occult providence of transfemme existence. They are currently an AND Unseen Futures fellow and their first solo exhibition Earth A.D. is co-commissioned by and touring across Wysing Arts Centre (Cambridge, 2022), FACT (Liverpool, 2023), and Quad (Derby, 2024). They live in Gateshead, UK.
